I met K back in ’95 through his brother Shaa Duno. Around that time Shaa, my man Beezo and my man Roots were all working on K’s album and I was DYING To work with K but I had just copped the ASR-10 and my beats were NO WHERE near what those cats were putting out. Now fast forward 15 years and through the wonderful word of social media, me and Shaa’s paths cross again and one day he’s at the crib and I’m playing beats and he’s telling me what beats he thinks K would rock too and I’m getting hype like “yo, I’m actually gonna FINALLY get a chance to work with dude.” Fast forward another 2 years and me and K have gat least 3-4 albums worth of material done. “Renaissance Musician” came about because I wanted to put out an EP before we dropped his album but I didn’t wanna give away a free EP with full bangers so I was like I’m just gonna loop up 5 samples and rock over those. (which is why all of the beats on Renaissance Musician are all loops) One of my favorite songs is Main Source’s “Just Hanging Out” with the Gwen McCrae “90% of You” sample so when I came across this (ya'll figure out who's version I used) version of the same song I knew I HAD to sample it. And in my opinion K KILLS this jawn! In my eyes it’s a PERFECT hip hop song. The beat is ill, the rhymes are ill and they both just fit. His debut album that I produced is called “Right Back At It” and will be dropping this Summer 2012. And to follow that up me and my man Beezo will be producing his 2nd album (that’s basically 75% done) that’ll be dropping late 2012/early 2013.
