The Routine – I met Osei back in ’92 my freshmen year at Morgan State in the Bear’s Den shooting pool. We started chopping it up about hip hop and the next thing you know this dude is telling me he has a studio at the crib…word? And now 20 years later I owe damn near everything I know about producing to this dude. In 20 years he’s never charged me a dime to come through and record and I’m forever indebted to this dude for looking out like that.

I always send O beats from time to time but I never really expected him to start writing to them. (dude is one of the ILLEST writers the world has yet to hear) Then one day he sends me a jawn he recorded to one of my beats called “The Christening” which was bananas! And from that point forward I would send him damn near every beat I made with hopes of him coming outta retirement (he doesn’t wanna rhyme anymore) and one day I get this jawn “The Routine” in my inbox and just like anytime O sends me some of his new music, I’m blown away. #1, I’ve ALWAYS loved this beat (it’s VERY seldom that an artist actually picks a beat I love ) #2 what O did to this beat is just SICK! Prayerfully one day I’ll finally convince O to drop that album we’ve been working on for the past 3 years…we’re about 7 songs deep so far.
